Today I want to start a post tradition called Wind Down Wednesday... also known as WDW.
Wednesdays are the middle of the week... referred to as Hump Day because you are at the peak of the work week and beginning your descent to the weekend. Wednesdays are usually busy days and they can either provide relief in knowing the week is winding down, or panic in knowing there is a lot more left to do. Either way, Wednesdays are a good day to take a moment and wind down....
So, every Wednesday (hopefully), I would like to post a new way to wind down. Also, I am very interested in your techniques for winding down... no matter how simple or elaborate it may be!
Today we will discuss one of my particularly favorite ways to wind down.... WINE!!!!!! One or two glasses of wine settles my nerves and leaves me feeling relaxed and blissfully happy. I prefer white over red, although a nice, smooth, full-bodied red can make a for a fabulous night. My favorite kind of wine is German Riesling because it is sweet, and does not taste watered down (although this can really depend on the brand). I also love Pino Grigio and Chardonnay.... actually, let's not lie here, I will drink practically any kind of wine.
When I was in Greece over the summer I particularly enjoyed their local rose wine (picture below). Please also note the delicious Greek Salad (as it should be) and Bruscetta!
Also, I love vineyards and wine tasting and while in Germany I was able to wine taste, travel through some Alsace wine country in France, and buy some wine! I put some pictures below to show you the beautiful wine country. And yes, I tasted some grapes off the vine.... please don't tell! :-)
So do you use wine to relax?? Red or white?!?! Or do you need salt all around that rimrimrimrim like Miss Nicki? Nothing against some margs, too!
Let me know! :-)
Those pictures make me want to go back! I definitely love a nice glass of white wine to relax. In fact, I just recently finished the bottle that I purchased in France. It was terrific!
ReplyDeleteWhite wine is spectacular! I still have my bottle from France, but will probably be opening it this week... I have been planning on drinking it for some time now. And yes, the pictures definitely make me want to go back. It was/is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love white wine! Especially sweet wines! Sitting in the living room with friends, tasting wine and gossiping, awwww! And I miss u girls, this wine-tasting-trip was fab! It was such a great idea! I don't know who came up with it, but it must had been a genius :D Definitely we should meet again and drink mooore :) I love also california rosa wines, so Rachael...
ReplyDeleteare there any wines from Ohio?
HelloKitty! Hi! Yes, this trip was great... and drinking wine with friends is definitely one of my favorite things to do. We do have vineyards in Ohio actually. However, there are not that many and it is not a major export of Ohio. When you come to visit... or when I come to Germany or Poland, we can taste these wines!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have you on my blog!
Wine! That's all the relaxing I need. And I'm pretty much strictly a red girl these days. Though I won't turn down a nice buttery chardonnay if it's offered. :)
ReplyDeleteMegan, What kind of red are you into? I find it hard to find a red that is not too acidic and dry for me. :-(
ReplyDeleteYeah, wine tasting IPP reunion! I'm already excited <3
